Herbatint is easy to mix and apply and is fragrance-free. If you have used a henna based dye in the past few months, please note that using chemical dyes over hair colored with pure plant dyes can give unexpected results, which are usually much darker color than would normally be expected, because plant dyes don't “lift” as easily. Chemical dyes may also fade faster than usual because henna makes your hair smoother and less porous so the chemical dyes won't attach as well, and often wash out with fewer shampoos. Therefore, if you are going to change the type of dye you are using please, give it a few months between the dyes. To be extra vigilant we would suggest a strand test if you are switching from henna to chemical based or visa versa.

With Herbatint, you don’t have to make a choice between style and beauty on the one hand and looking after your health and supporting green practices on the other. The colour holds for as long as conventional permanent hair dyes and the depth and range of colour is not compromised by the lack of chemicals. With its unique dyeing process & quality ingredients, hair is left in far better condition.

Herbatint is not tested on animals and comes in biodegradable, recyclable packaging.

Are Phenylenediamines (PPDs) present in Herbatint?

Like all permanent hair colour products Herbatint does contain PPDs, the colour pigments used to alter your hair's natural shade. Though the research is not conclusive, it has been suggested that PPDs are potentially harmful. Herbatint contains the minimum possible levels – 0.8 – 0.9% in most of the colours, with a maximum of 2.1% in the darkest colour. Current European legislation allows for PPD’s to comprise up to 6% of the constituents of hair dyes. Herbatint also contains numerous vegetal extracts to reduce the impact of PPD’s. However, we recommend that pregnant ladies and people undergoing chemotherapy treatment do not use any permanent hairdye.

I have had allergic reactions to hairdyes in the past; will I react to Herbatint?

Most people who have reacted in the past do not react to Herbatint, as the formula does not contain many of the potential irritants normally used in hair dyes, and much lower levels of those that may cause irritation. Herbatint also contains Aloe Barbadensis, which is an effective anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant. However, there are a small number of people with allergic reactions to all kinds of substances and we strongly advise performing a skin test prior to tinting your hair.
